The Commission on Filipinos Overseas is extending the deadline to September 15, 2021, for the submission of entries to the 2021 Migration Advocacy and Media (MAM) Awards. This is to give way to the numerous requests that we received from our local and overseas based media and other migration advocates who are interested to join, and are affected by the series of lockdowns due to rising COVID-19 cases.
Established in 2011, the Awards aim to recognize the significant role of the media in the promotion and advocacy of various issues on Filipino migration and development.
CFO Secretary Francisco P. Acosta said that the Awards are “our modest tribute for the powerful influence of media in articulating and shaping the narrative of Philippine migration, in advocating the cause of Filipinos overseas, and for showing the world the colorful journey of our Filipino migrants.”
Eligible for the Awards are works by government and private media outlets, institutions and practitioners in the fields of print, radio, movie and television, advertising and interactive media. The categories include Print Journalism Award (magazine, newsletter/newspaper, book), Radio Journalism Award (radio program), Television Journalism Award (TV program, TV series, TV special, interstitial), Film Media Award (movie, documentary, short film), Interactive Media Award (website, blog, Vlog), Advertisement Award, and Media Advocate Award. The newest category – the Media Advocate Award is intended for media personalities and migration advocates. The entries/ nominees must have raised public awareness on issues on Filipino migration, advocated the cause of overseas Filipinos and/or promoted a positive image of overseas Filipinos.
Nominations should be received by the MAM Awards Committee on or before September 15, 2021.
